Yes, but you need a “Smart” charger to do it right. Standard chargers will just draw power blindly from whatever is available (often pulling from the grid). Smart chargers can monitor your solar inverter. If they see your solar panels are producing excess power that would normally be sent back to the grid for a cheap credit, they will redirect that exact amount of “free” green energy straight into your car’s battery.

No. Installing a Level 2 charger involves high-voltage electrical work and running a brand-new dedicated circuit. By law, it must be completed by a licensed electrician. Doing it yourself is not only highly dangerous, but it will void your charger’s warranty and likely cause your home insurance provider to refuse coverage if an electrical issue occurs.
