Case Study – Restoring failed exterior lighting circuit

Client: Chemist Warehouse
Business Type: Commercial/Retail
Project Duration: Single day (both jobs completed in one visit)
Challenge: Home office lost internet on Christmas Eve

The Problem:
The store had a failed exterior lighting circuit caused by two fallen light fittings, multiple blown exterior fluorescent tubes leaving the shopfront poorly lit, and widespread interior lighting faults throughout the premises.

Our Response:
We coordinated scheduling with the owner in advance to avoid disrupting trade, then completed both jobs in a single visit to keep costs down. For the exterior, we restored the circuit, replaced the most critical fittings to get the shopfront adequately lit, and programmed the time clock to the owner’s preferred hours to help manage energy costs. Rather than replacing all faulty exterior fittings at once to maximise the job value, we were upfront with the owner about the full extent of the faults and gave him the choice — he opted for a staged approach, replacing only what was needed immediately with a plan to return for the rest when it suited him. For the interior, we carried out a full inspection, clearly communicated the scope of faults, and replaced all faulty components in one visit once the owner confirmed he was happy to proceed with a full rectification.

The Outcome:
The store’s exterior lighting circuit was restored with the shopfront adequately lit and running on a programmed schedule, with a plan established for the remaining fittings when the owner is ready to proceed. Every interior light was tested, commissioned and confirmed fully operational — all completed in a single day with minimal disruption to the business and the owner’s costs managed on his terms.
